Conscious Parenting with Astrology

Astrology meets Parenthood! Matthew Stelzner and Jessica DiRuzza go deep while keeping it light about how the practice of astrology comes together with being a parent. They explore how cosmology guides how we raise our children, how our child’s birth chart and synastry support this magical journey, and how the Mysteries of the Moon manifest with each of the other planets. Matthew and Jessica have been friends and colleagues for 15 years, first in San Francisco, California and now in the Caribbean, with Matthew and his family in Santa Marta, Colombia and Jessica and her family in Siesta Key, Florida.

Matthew Stelzner is a professional intuitive guide and teacher, devoted husband and father, currently living in Santa Marta, Colombia. He has practiced astrology and tarot for nearly 30 years. Matthew also worked for 20 years as a professional facilitator and trainer of Holotropic Breathwork. As a group leader for workshops and trainings offering that method, he held space for people doing powerful work in expanded states of consciousness.

His combined experiences in these two main areas of work, along with his training in counseling psychology, have lead to a unique approach to working with clients that is about trusting the healing force within each client to guide the process. He has an MA degree in Philosophy and Transpersonal Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Jessica DiRuzza, MFT is a depth psychotherapist, astrologer, and teacher, as well as a wife and badass mother. For over 15 years, she has worked lovingly and collaboratively with individuals, couples, and groups on their embodied transformative journeys. Jessica received her Master’s in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, where she wrote her thesis on shame and the reclamation of the feminine voice. Jessica did her bachelor’s at California Institute of Integral Studies where she studied and taught archetypal astrology and transpersonal psychology.

Eclipse season occurs two times each year. It’s the undulating rhythm of our solar system and human life. Eclipse season is a powerful and potent transformative portal, with so many different things both coming in and going out. Eclipses ask a lot of us as humans, and are often quite demanding. To be in the unknown, to be in the mystery, to let go without always knowing what comes next, to try and ride the cosmic dragon and not go down in flames. In episode 34, I share my personal experience and understanding of this most recent eclipse season in Scorpio and Taurus.

The Psychology of Venus & Pluto in Astrology

When the two planets of Venus and Pluto make any major aspect in the natal chart, we can gain an intimate understanding of how Venus-Pluto natives psychologically relate to other people. By understanding the light and shadow expression of this planetary pair, we become familiar with the archetypal narrative or mythology of how a person is working with and through this energy in their life. Soul-making is that potent and magical intersection of combining the universal meaning of a planetary aspect with the unique soul expression of a human being embodying the particularities of their life’s journey. Like the yin-yang symbol, the light and shadow are both interrelated and dependent on one another for their existence, as seen in the transformative journey or story of the dance between any two archetypal qualities, in this case, Venus and Pluto. Each planetary pair is a living archetypal story, and once we know that story, we can understand where we have come from and glean insight into where we are going.
